Foothills Prosthetics was founded upon the principle that each person is entitled to receive the highest level of care. This is achieved by utilizing fully qualified practitioners what have been educated in traditional treatment methods and trained using the newest technology, but we realize that the most important information often comes from the patient. We are committed to listening and understanding so that the best goals can be developed, acted on, and achieved. We share this vision with the many wonderful physicians, physical and occupational therapists, hospitals, social workers and nurses that call the foothills of North Carolina home.
Our team is led by Kevin Wicker, CPO. Kevin began his medical "career" at Newberry Hospital in Newberry, SC where his mother was employed. Beginning when he was five years old, Kevin was a very frequent visitor of his mother at the hospital, and therefore developed a love and appreciation for using health care as means to help others with their needs. His post-secondary education began at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, with education and training for orthotics and prosthetics being completed at the University of Washington, in Seattle. His orthotic residency was completed at Carolina Orthopedic Laboratory in Spartanburg, SC, while his prosthetic residency was completed at Ohio Willow Wood in Mt. Sterling, OH. With the completion of all educational requirements and by passing all required exams, Kevin earned the distinction of certified prosthetist/orthotist (CPO) from ABC, the organization with the highest educational demands in the profession. Happily married (always!) with four wonderful children (sometimes!), Kevin also enjoys his time outside the office participating in activities such as camping, gardening, bee keeping, and many church activities.
